U.S. Democratic senator held a conference call with the White House, stating that Trump administration’s vaccine affairs official acknowledged that “there is no and does not intend to communicate with Biden team on vaccine issues”.
According to Reuters, Democratic senators complaining about the practices of Trump administration’s head of vaccines include Connecticut Congressman Chris Murphy. He wrote on Twitter, “They (Trump administration’s vaccine information update and distribution team) confirmed to us that they had not communicated with President-elect Biden’s team before, and said they did not plan to do so in the future. …… Doing so has planted a potential disaster!”
Murphy said in an emailed statement, “Trump team’s unwillingness to share its plan with the new administration may prevent the President-elect Biden’s team from implementing the plan or making adjustments on the first day after taking office.”
The White House spokesperson Morgan Stern did not disclose whether Trump administration had briefed Biden team on the vaccine issue when asked. He said that the plans of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state governors to distribute vaccines are already public information.
