French 24-hour television reported on the 17th that Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he would work to “ensure that the US-Israel relationship is strengthened and receives strong support from both parties.”
Biden’s office said in a statement that Biden “will provide firm support for Israel’s national security and its future as a Jewish democracy.” Netanyahu’s office said he had a “warm” conversation with Biden.
Biden also spoke with Israeli President Rivlin. Rivlin wrote on Twitter: “As an old friend of Israel, Biden knows that our friendship far exceeds partisan politics. We have no doubt that the United States will maintain our security and support ours under his leadership. Success.”
Biden’s transition team said in a statement about Rivlin: “Biden looks forward to working with Israel to deepen the increasingly close partnership between our two countries.”
In addition, Indian Prime Minister Modi also had a phone call with Biden and congratulated him.
