The outbreak also led to a shortage of prison staff, and some staff were forced to work continuously for 40 hours. An employee of the prison previously told the media that the prison was not prepared to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
As of now, a total of 140 prisoners and 2 staff in the US prison system have died of coronavirus.
