Five South Korean football players infected with coronavirus are asymptomatic
November 14 the Korean Football Association announced on its official website that four players and one staff member of the Korean men’s football team that are training for a friendly match in Austria tested positive for coronavirus.
According to FIFA regulations, South Korean men’s football has been tested for coronavirus. The results showed that Li Dongjun, Quan Changxun, Huang Renfan, goalkeeper Zhao Xianyou and a staff member were positive.
It is reported that these five personnel have no obvious symptoms and were quarantined in their rooms in accordance with the pandemic prevention guidelines of FIFA and the Korean Football Association. The Korean Football Association stated in a statement that it will put the health of the athletes as the top priority, continue to monitor the health of the players and take necessary measures.
The rest of the team will undergo nucleic acid testing again on Saturday, local time, and whether the friendly match with Mexico will be cancelled will also depend on the test results. The South Korean men’s football team was originally scheduled to play friendly matches with Mexico and Qatar on the 15th and 17th.
