According to data, the current R value nationwide in the UK is between 1.0 and 1.2, which is lower than last week’s between 1.1 and 1.3. The northwest of England has the lowest R value, ranging from 0.9 to 1.1
followed by the northeast and London, which are the same as the national R value (between 1.0 and 1.2). The southwest, southeast, and east of England have the highest R values, up to 1.4.
However, the Emergency Scientific Advisory Group added that although the R value has declined in some areas, the number of Coronavirus pandemic cases is still “high”, and the number of new cases per day is increasing by 1% to 3%.
The R value is an indicator used to determine the spread of the new coronavirus and represents the average number of people infected with the virus who continue to infect others.
