New York, U.S. Covid-19 Confirmed rate rises again or schools close for the second time
Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio stated that if the average positive test rate for New York City’s 7-day COVID-19 infection exceeds 3%, the school will resume distance learning.
He said that the 7-day average positive rate on Wednesday (11th) was 2.52%. There were 817 new infections, and 94 people were hospitalized due to the new coronavirus infection.
“This is our last chance to stop the second wave of outbreaks,” De Blasio wrote on social networking sites on the afternoon of the 11th. “We can do it, but we must act now.”
The New York City public school system is the largest school district in the United States, consisting of 1,600 public schools. Due to the pandemic, New York City did not resume face-to-face teaching until September 21.
