Due to the continuous spread of the Coronavirus epidemic, the daily increase in infections has always remained high. On October 22, local time, Slovak Prime Minister Matovic announced at a press conference that a “foot ban” will be implemented nationwide, from October 24 to On November 1, the people’s freedom of travel was strictly restricted.
Matovic said that although epidemiologists recommended stricter “blockade” measures, the government eventually adopted a more moderate version. During the “foot-free” period, people are not allowed to go out at will, except for several exceptions such as participating in virus testing, working, seeing a doctor, picking up children at school, buying food and medicine or other daily necessities. There is no such restriction between 1:00 am and 5:00 am.
In addition, from October 26 to November 27, all middle schools and grades 5-9 of primary schools in the country will be taught online. Kindergarten and primary school grades 1-4 can still use the traditional classroom teaching mode.
Recently, the epidemic situation in Slovakia has been deteriorating, with new infections daily breaking new records. According to data released by the Slovak Public Health Agency on the 22nd, in this Central European country with a population of only 5.5 million, the cumulative number of infections has reached 35,330 and 115 deaths.
