The 2022 Qatar World Cup is getting closer and closer. A reporter from CCTV interviewed Hassan Al-Sawadi, Secretary-General of the Qatar World Cup Organizing Committee in charge of preparations for the World Cup, on April 1 to introduce the current progress.
Hassan Al-Sawadi: This is the second World Cup in Asia and the first time in the Arab and Middle East regions, and we are very happy and excited about it. We love football, and we are ready to show Arab culture to the world. I hope this World Cup will present a high level of competition.
The Qatar World Cup will be held from November 21 to December 18 this year. The schedule lasts 28 days. It is the shortest schedule since the World Cup expanded to 32 teams, so it is also known as the “most compact” World Cup.
At present, the preparations for the Qatar World Cup have entered the final stage. The infrastructure construction has been completed by more than 99%, and all eight stadiums hosting the competition have been completed.
Among them, the Lucer Stadium, the main stadium hosting the final, was built by a Chinese enterprise. Hassan said that Lusser Stadium can accommodate 80,000 spectators and has the most complex facade and roof structure, which proves the ability of Chinese enterprises.
