iranian oil minister javad ogi has called on the united states and european countries to lift sanctions on iran to ease the global energy crisis, state television reported wednesday.
ogi 4 after attending the organization of the petroleum exporting countries (opec) and non-opec oil producers after the 21st ministerial meeting, said the united states and some european countries for many years to hinder iran’s oil exports, iran is not the only party to pay the price, this unilateral policy has also had a negative impact on the people of the united states and europe.
mr ogi said iran was willing to increase oil production and stabilize energy markets. policymakers in the us and europe should “learn the lesson” by lifting sanctions on iran to ease the global energy crisis and give the world access to cheaper energy.
iran is opec’s third-largest oil producer. in may 2018, the u.s. government unilaterally announced its withdrawal from the comprehensive agreement on iran’s nuclear program, which was followed by the resumption and addition of a series of new sanctions against iran, in particular the “zero exemption” embargo imposed on iranian oil exports in may 2019, which severely hampered iranian oil exports.
