A Volcanic eruption on the spanish island of la palma has destroyed hundreds of homes and caused emergency evacuations for about 5,000 people

At 1500 hours local time on september 19th, the volcano on the spanish island of la palma began erupting, destroying hundreds of houses, crops and infrastructure in towns near the volcano.

so far, the eruption has caused no casualties, but has forced the emergency evacuation of about 5,000 people.

it is reported that the eruption has emitted more than 20,000 tons of sulfur dioxide.
