August 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Kazakh President Tokayev. During the talks, Putin said the current situation in Afghanistan is extremely serious and will hold a video conference with the leaders of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on August 23 to discuss security issues related to the situation in Afghanistan.
In response, the President of Kazakhstan expressed the hope that Putin’s views on the current situation in Afghanistan would be known in order to coordinate policy.
