Aug. 19 2021 Flooding in North Carolina has left dozens of people missing due to tropical storm Fred.
Floods triggered by tropical storms swept through the mountains of the western part of the state, destroying bridges, flooding homes and triggering landslides, the New York Post reported Thursday. Heywood County was particularly hard hit, with local officials saying about 35 people were still missing in the area as of late Wednesday.
At present, the local government has sent out ground, water and air rescue, about 100 people were rescued. 18 (UPI) — North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency Wednesday.
Local officials also said at least 70 water rescues had been carried out in Bancon County, which borders Heywood County. At present, “Fred” is moving northwards and is expected to have a greater impact on upstate New York.
