Eyewitnesses told Xinhua that Israeli forces launched a pre-dawn attack and clashed with Palestinian militants, when heavy gunfire and explosions could be heard.
Israeli forces have recently been preparing for a military operation in Jenin to capture people wanted by the security forces, Israel Radio reported.
