Thailand’s domestic flights have been grounded and some visitors to Phuket’s tourist sandbox program have been unable to continue their travel as a result of Thailand’s recent escalation of epidemic prevention measures and the imposition of “city closures” and curfews in 29 provinces, including the capital Bangkok. To this end, the relevant departments in Phuket Province from August 4 to arrange buses to take tourists to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport, the daily travel time from 5 pm to 21 pm.
The Phuket Tourism Sandbox Scheme is a pilot scheme launched by the Thai Government on July 1st to revive tourism to attract foreign tourists. The plan is to use the tourist resort of Phuket as a separate large quarantine area, where eligible visitors do not have to be quarantined in their hotel rooms after entering the island, and those who have completed 14 days and have been confirmed to be uninfected with the new crown virus can continue their journey to other parts of Thailand.
So far, the Phuket Tourism Sandbox Program has attracted more than 15,000 tourists from all over the world.
