On 25 May, local time, Dr Farida Al Hosani, spokesman for the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, announced at a regular press conference that those who had not been vaccinated would not be allowed to participate in public events from 6 June. Public events, including exhibitions, shows, sporting events, and even weddings, participants must present an “E code” on their mobile app (two coronavirus to show) before entering.
As of May 25, the UAE’s coronavirus vaccination rate was 124 doses per 100 people, one of the highest in the world.
Previously, the UAE government has introduced a number of policies to promote the country’s residents to vaccinate, in addition to free vaccination, increasing vaccination sites, there is a mandatory non-vaccinated government employees to carry out weekly nucleic acid testing at their own expense. The head of the UAE government’s health department says the goal is to reach 100 per cent vaccination rates by 2021.
