May 26 (UPI) — May 25 is the one-year anniversary of the kneeling death of African-American man George Floyd. That day, a shooting occurred at George Floyd Memorial Square in Minneapolis, Minnesota. According to foreign media reports, dozens of gunshots were fired from the scene, gunshots echoed, passers-by fled, and one person was injured.
According to multiple media reports, including FoxNews.com and Russia Today, the shooting occurred at around 10 a.m. on the 25th at George Floyd Memorial Plaza near the intersection of 39th Street and Chicago Avenue South. Before the incident, people gathered at the same place to mark the first anniversary of Floyd’s death.
According to eyewitness accounts, dozens of gunshots were fired from the scene, and the sound of gunfire echoed at the intersection as passers-by fled. After the shooting, a car sped away from the scene.
Minneapolis police say one person was injured in the shooting and is being treated in a stable condition.
On May 25th, the first anniversary of George Floyd’s death by white police officers, commemorations were held in several cities, including Apolis, New York and Los Angeles.
