17th May 2021 French government spokesman Attar in an interview with the radio program, said the French side called on both sides to ease the current tensions, and hope that Israel in retaliation against the Gaza Strip to exercise restraint.
Attar said France supports increased diplomacy to achieve an Israeli-Palestinian ceasefire as soon as possible and to find a solution for continued stability in the region. To this end, French President Emmanuel Macron will be in Paris on the 17th with Egyptian President Sisi on the mediation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict exchange of views.
On May 15th, local time, more than 20,000 people across France took part in demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine. Demonstrators took to the streets and clashed with police, although the French Interior Ministry issued an early ban on activities in Paris.
