The number of children under the age of 9 infected with the Coronavirus has soared in the northern Indian state of Akende

Health authorities in India’s northern state of Akende say more than 1,000 children under the age of nine have been infected with the coronavirus in the past 10 days, the Indian News Agency for Asia and the International News reported Thursday. At present, some sick children have been sent to hospital for treatment.

In the past year, only 2,130 children in North Akhund have been infected with the coronavirus. The number of infected patients has surged since April, with 1,317 confirmed cases of children under the age of nine reported in April and 1,618 confirmed infections between May 1 and 14.
