May 12, local time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and visiting U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Moscow said that it is dangerous for some countries to build alliances outside the framework of the United Nations under the pretext of so-called “inefficiency of the United Nations” and allow themselves to express their views and act on behalf of all other countries.
In addition, Lavrov stressed that those who use force and launch unilateral economic sanctions before the U.N. Security Council has passed a sanctions resolution are putting the world at significant risk. As a result, many innocent civilians have been hit and the situation in some conflict areas has reached an impasse.
On these issues, Lavrov and Guterres discussed the situation in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan and Yemen.
