Mexico City Civil Defense Chief Ursua said on May 11 local time, under the contract, it may cost 20 million pesos (about $1 million) to hire qualified international companies to intervene in the May 3 subway crash.
The independent investigation was conducted by a Norwegian company called Det Norske Veritas. The team consisted of 16 experts from Germany, Spain, the United States, Brazil and Mexico in the fields of civil engineering, structural engineering, forensics, electromechanical and railway elevated structures.
In addition, Mexico City Mayor Sean Baum promised that the preliminary findings would be made public in five weeks. Prosecutors in Mexico City say the investigation into the cause of the accident will not be influenced by any political factors or media opinion.
An elevated track on the 12th metro line in Mexico City, mexico’s capital, collapsed at around 22:22 p.m. local time on May 3, causing several carriages to fall from the collapse. The accident has so far killed 26 people.
