Afghan President Ghani has ordered a three-day ceasefire during Eid al-Fitr

In a statement dated May 10, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani instructed all Afghan forces to abide by the cease-fire during the three-day Eid al-Fitr holiday, reiterating that Taliban violence has no legitimacy and that the people need a permanent ceasefire.

Earlier, the Afghan Taliban also announced a three-day ceasefire during Eid al-Fitr. But it also said that if there was an exchange of fire, it would fight back immediately.
