According to Lebanon media reports, Lebanon’s central bank governor Salama 3, said that all his property in France was obtained before he was appointed central bank governor, stressing that he has repeatedly produced relevant documents to declare the source of the property, proving that he had 23 million euros of property before his appointment as central bank governor in 1993.
On 30 April, Lebanese prosecutors reportedly opened a judicial investigation into Salama and his brother Raja. Raja’s offices have been cordoned off and computers and documents confiscated.
In addition, a French non-profit organization and a number of lawyers recently filed a lawsuit against Salama on suspicion of corruption and money laundering in the French National Financial Prosecutor’s Office.
