The governor of the German state of Bavaria, Soder, announced on May 3rd that there would be no Munich Oktoberfest this year. He also called for no other major celebrations.

Munich Oktoberfest President Baumgartner issued a statement in support of Soder and Wright’s decision and said he looked forward to welcoming back the large number of visitors to the Oktoberfest in 2022.

The two-week event is Munich’s biggest event of the year, attracting millions of visitors each year. The 2020 Munich Oktoberfest has also been cancelled due to the coronavirus.
