Police said a 57-year-old Asian man was waiting for a bus near Union Square on Fourth Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. on July 27 when the suspect, Saul Barbilonia, 58, approached him and demanded money. Asian men tried to walk away, while Babylonia yelled “you stupid Chinese” and punched him in the face before fleeing the scene.

According to court records, Babylonia was arrested shortly after the attack and charged with felony and hate crimes, and is scheduled to be arraigned on the 28th.
