April 28, local time, Singapore’s Ministry of Health announced that a 46-year-old Filipino nurse at Singapore’s Chan Dusheng Hospital had been diagnosed with Coronavirus. Preliminary tests revealed that three patients and one doctor in her room were also infected with Coronavirus.
Singapore’s Ministry of Health said the female nurse had been given the first and second doses of Coronavirus vaccine on January 26 and February 18 this year, respectively, but began showing symptoms of sore throat, cough and sore body on April 27.
She was admitted to Chen Dusheng Hospital and was diagnosed with Coronavirus on the 27th. She has been taken to the National Center for Infectious Diseases and is still awaiting serum test results.
Singapore’s Ministry of Health says vaccination can reduce the incidence and severity of Coronavirus, but there is still a risk of contracting the virus. At present, the Hospital has sealed off the wards where the confirmed cases have occurred and quarantined all close contacts, as well as patients, staff and visitors who have entered the ward.
Founded in the 19th century, Chen Dusheng Hospital is currently one of the largest public general hospitals in Singapore, with 45 clinical and full-time health departments, 16 specialist centres and more than 8,000 medical staff working in the hospital.
