April 25 (AFP) – The death toll from a fire at a hospital in the Iraqi capital Baghdad treating patients in the Coronavirus has risen to 58.
Ali Bayati, a member of the Iraqi Human Rights Commission, reportedly said that “the death toll from the fire at The hattib hospital in Baghdad is 58.” ”
Earlier, Dijlah TV quoted a source as saying: “The death toll from the hospital fire increased to 28, more than 50 injured.” That number is likely to increase. ”
According to media reports, the cause of the fire was an explosion of oxygen cylinders. Most of the dead were from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Qadimi on the evening of the 24th to the Khatib hospital fire victims expressed condolences, and ordered the accident investigation during the detention of hospital officials, including the director, until the investigation is completed.
