At about 10 a.m. local time on the 24th, an explosion occurred at an oxygen plant in Fortaleza, the capital of the northern Brazilian state of Ceara.
According to Brazilian media reports, the accident occurred at a factory in Fortaleza, owned by White Martins, a subsidiary of global gas giant Plex.
At least five people were injured in the blast, one of them seriously, and all were taken to hospital for treatment, according to Brazil’s Global News Network. Local governments and fire departments have cordoned off and quarantined the area around the accident, while an investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched.
