Pfizer Has Confirmed The DiscoverY Of Counterfeit Coronavirus Vaccine In Mexico And Poland, Warning People Not To Trust Online Vaccine Dealers, U.S. Media Reported Tuesday.
Mexico’s drug watchdog said counterfeit Pfizer vaccines were found in February that had been sold and vaccinated, the Associated Press reported. According to the state government of Nuevo Leon, Mexico’s northern border state, they found three empty bottles containing the fake Pfizer vaccine, and it is estimated that 15 to 18 people had been vaccinated.
Polish law enforcement officials seized an unvaccinated fake Pfizer vaccine in an apartment and noticed a difference between bottles containing counterfeit vaccines and “genuine” bottles. The ingredients of the fake vaccine are believed to be drugs used in anti-wrinkle treatment.
Pfizer confirmed in a statement that counterfeit Coronavirus vaccines had been found in Mexico and Poland. Pfizer said preliminary tests showed that the fake vaccine found in Mexico was distilled water.
Pfizer said that given the convenience of e-commerce and the anonymity of the Internet, “fraud, forgery and other illegal activities involving Coronavirus vaccines and treatments will become more common.” It warns people “not to buy vaccines online, legal vaccines are not sold online”.
