Sudan’s Sovereignty Council and The Council of Ministers approved a bill on the 19th to repeal the last century promulgated laws against Israel.

Sudan sovereignty committee chairman Burhan the same day in the capital Khartoum chaired a joint meeting of the sovereignty committee and the committee of ministers. Sudan’s justice minister, Abdul Bari, later said on social media that the joint meeting had passed a number of bills, including a bill to lift the boycott of Israel.

Sudan reportedly enacted a law in 1958 prohibiting economic and trade relations with Israel, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

On October 23, 2020, the United States, Sudan and Israel issued a joint statement saying that the leaders of the three countries agreed to normalize relations between Sudan and Israel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sudan issued a statement on the 25th of the same month announcing the official launch of economic and commercial exchanges with Israel.
