Kennedy Malama, a permanent secretary of Zambia’s Ministry of Health, urged the Zambian public not to relax their outbreak prevention and control after vaccination, the Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation reported on April 18.
Marama says vaccinations only reduce people’s chances of contracting the new coronavirus, but that doesn’t mean it will absolutely protect people from it.
Dr. Malama called on the vaccinated Zambian public to continue to strictly adhere to anti-pandemic rules such as wearing masks and keeping social distances to protect themselves.
Zambia, like many other countries around the world, is still in the midst of an outbreak, he said, so people should continue to comply with Coronavirus outbreak prevention and control rules until the World Health Organization gives further guidance.
At present, many countries are also experiencing the third wave of Coronavirus outbreak, so at this time to relax the pandemic prevention and control will make the situation worse.
