April 12 The situation in eastern Ukraine continues to be tense. On Sunday (11th local time), Ukrainian government forces exchanged fire with civilian forces in the Udong region again, causing one death and one serious injury to the Ukrainian army.
According to foreign media such as ABC and AFP, the Ukrainian military claimed on the 11th that civilian forces in the Donbas region in the eastern part of the country launched artillery attacks that day, killing one Ukrainian soldier and seriously injuring another soldier.
The Ukrainian military also said that 27 soldiers have been killed in the eastern region this year, more than half of the death toll in 2020. In recent weeks, attacks have intensified.

The Ukrainian army has recently exchanged fire with local armed groups in Luhansk and Donetsk regions, causing continued tension in the Udong region. On the 8th, during his visit to the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, President Zelensky said that the number of soldiers killed by the conflict in the region has reached 25. Zelensky said that he was “convinced that the situation in the region is deteriorating”.
Russian President Putin said on the phone with German Chancellor Merkel on the 8th that he called attention to Ukraine’s provocations on the Donbas conflict because they “exacerbated tensions on the ground”.
Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov said on the 11th that no one will go to war with Ukraine, and no one can accept any possibility of such a war. He also said that Russia was not involved in the conflict in the Donbas region, but would not be indifferent to the fate of the Russians living there.
