According to Reuters, on the evening of April 5 local time, a Dutch cargo ship encountered stormy weather near the Norwegian coast. The crew had been rescued by the Norwegian Coast Guard, but the cargo ship was still drifting at sea and at risk of sinking and oil spilling.
According to the video released by the Norwegian Rescue Coordination Center, some crew members jumped into the sea from a heavily tilted cargo ship and were rescued by helicopters, while others were lifted directly from the deck by helicopters.
Officials of the Norwegian Coastal Authority said that all the crew members were safe at present, but the main engine of the cargo ship lost power at night, drifted to land, and was at risk of capsizing and sinking.
He added that there were about 350 tons of heavy oil and 50 tons of diesel in the tank of the freighter, and there may be a risk of oil leakage.
