April 5th – On theĀ 5th local time, the Israeli prosecutors accused Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu of corruption in court. Netanyahu appeared in court on the same day and denied all the corruption charges.
Netanyahu denied any misconduct in three cases against him, Reuters reported. Netanyahu came to the Jerusalem District Court that day in a dark suit and a black mask. He talked with lawyers that day, and his supporters and critics held demonstrations outside the court. Netanyahu was allowed to leave the courtroom before the first witness was called.
Netanyahu was charged with bribery, fraud and breach of trust, who had previously claimed to be a victim of political persecution. Netanyahu is the first Prime Minister in Israeli history to be prosecuted during his term of office.
Since last May, the Jerusalem District Court has held more than a dozen pretrial hearings. Netanyahu has been trying to avoid attending court hearings, and on the 5th was his third personal appearance.
