April 2nd, local time, Thailand’s Central Administrative Court rejected Thailand’s Ministry of Finance’s claim for the loss of 35.7 billion tbillion td in the “rice malfeasance case” of former Prime Minister Yingluck.
The court held that former Prime Minister Yingluck only knew the content of the memorandum of understanding on rice sales, and she had tried to investigate corruption in the rice transaction.
In addition, Thailand’s Central Administrative Court said that Thailand’s Ministry of Finance admitted that there was no clear evidence that former Prime Minister Yingluck’s behavior directly caused economic losses in the “rice malfeasance case”.
Thai Deputy Prime Minister Weisanu said that the Thai government has the right to continue to appeal the court’s decision on the 2nd.
Former Thai Prime Minister Yingluck left Thailand in August 2017 and was sentenced to five years in prison for absenteeism in the court “Rice Dereliction of Duty”.
