February 27th – TheĀ U.S. Department of Defense said on the 25th that the U.S. military launched air strikes on Iranian-backed militia targets in eastern Syria on the same day and destroyed many facilities.
This is the first confirmed military operation launched by the U.S. military since Biden took office as President of the United States.
In response, a spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the 26th that the United States attack on Syria was an aggressive attack and violated international law.
According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hatibzad said on the 26th that Tehran believes that Tehran’s attack on Syria is an aggressive attack, a flagrant violation of human rights and international law, and Iran strongly condemns it.
The statement said, “U.S. bases are illegally located in Syria and engage in training terrorists.” The U.S. attack on Syrian facilities is an act that undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and will lead to an increase in conflict and destabilize the situation in the region.
The Pentagon earlier claimed that the United States attacked several facilities on the Syrian-Iraq border, which was a “defense attack”.
In response, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said on the 26th that the United States had notified the Russian army in Syria four to five minutes before the air strike on Syria, but such a notification was “pointless”.
Russia has repeatedly expressed concern about the U.S. military operations in Syria.
The Syrian government publicly condemned the U.S. air strike on the 26th.
The statement of the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that the air strikes by the United States on the Syrian-Iranian border area not only violate international law and the Charter of the United Nations, but also send a “negative signal” on the policy of the United States government.
