February 26th – Birmingham police searched a house on the 25th local time and found 80 crocodile head leather products.
According to the BBC, investigators said they suspected that the leather products were illegally imported and then sold them on the online auction website eBay for huge profits.
Officials at the West Midlands Police Department said the “crocodile heads” have been regularly sold for some time, and they are currently working with the British National Wildlife Crime Department.
A spokesperson for eBay said that eBay has set up a blocking feature to prevent violations of wildlife conservation-related laws: “We are currently investigating the case and will take appropriate action against the sellers concerned.”
