February 22, local time, Russian President Putin and Belarusian President Lukashenko held a meeting in Sochi.
According to the Belarus News Agency, during the meeting, Lukashenko gave Putin a basket of Belarusian food as a gift.
According to the report, the basket mainly contains meat products and cheese produced by different Belarusian enterprises.
From the label, the basket includes ham and Parmesan cheese. However, there are more traditional white Russian foods in the basket, such as bacon.
The report also said that Putin has repeatedly spoke highly of Belarusian food.
He once said: “White Russian food is very popular in Russia. They are always of good quality and affordable prices.”
Reuters and other foreign media reported that Putin held discussions with Lukashenka on the coronavirus, economy and other issues during the meeting on the 22nd.
Putin said that cooperation is needed at all levels, including the regional level.
He stressed that Russia remains the largest trading partner of neighboring Belarus.
Putin added that Russia’s total investment in the Belarusian economy is estimated to exceed $4 billion.
Lukashenka thanked Russia for its economic assistance to Belarus during the talks.
After the talks on the same day, the two also went skiing in a local tourist resort.
