February 18th local time, the two-day meeting of NATO member states’ defense ministers ended.
The topic of the meeting on that day mainly revolved around NATO military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
On the issue of Afghanistan, the defense ministers reaffirmed their support for the NATO mission to Afghanistan, support the training and funding of Afghan security forces, and their strong support for the Afghan peace process, so as to achieve lasting peace in Afghanistan.
On the issue of Iraq, defense ministers agreed to expand the NATO mandate at Iraq’s request to support Iraqi forces in combating terrorism and ensure that the Islamic State will not return.
In addition, NATO military operations in Iraq will continue with full respect for Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
