Due to the sudden increase in the number of new infections caused by the spread of variant novel coronavirus
Fontana, chairman of Lombardy Region of Italy, signed a decree on the 16th, deciding to classify four towns in the
region as red areas of the epidemic, and local kindergartens, primary and secondary schools will implement online teaching.
All four municipalities classified as red zones have experienced cluster outbreaks related to variant
coronavirus, and one of them has added 137 infections in the past week with a population of about 7,000.
Red area control will be implemented from 18:00 on the 17th.
According to Italy’s current epidemic control measures in graded zones, the red area will
implement the strictest control measures. Residents are not required to leave their residence.
All restaurants and bars only provide take-out services. All retail stores except for food, medicine, publications, etc. are closed.
