A South Korean fire official said on Tuesday that an electric bus produced by Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea caught fire during use on Monday.
In the previous months, similar fires have occurred in electric vehicles, causing some vehicles to be recalled for further battery inspection.
An official at the South Korean city of Changwon Fire Headquarters said that no one was injured in the incident.
At the time of the incident, the empty bus was undergoing routine inspection and returned to the garage after the inspection.
The fire official said that the manufacturer of the battery in the bus has not been identified, but local media reported that the Elec City bus uses batteries produced by LG Energy Solution, the wholly-owned battery division of LG Chemical.
