After the overwhelming victory of the National League for Democracy in Myanmar in the 2020 general election, the Yangon Provincial Assembly formed by the National League of Myanmar issued an announcement
February 11 local time that it would file a lawsuit against the detention of several senior government officials in Yangon, including the current Yangon Governor Wu Piao Min Deng for more than 10 days.
The announcement said that Wu Piao Min Deng and others were not on a wanted notice or public charge, and the arrest was neither granted the permission of the Chief Justice or submitted to the Chief Justice within the time specified after the arrest.
Therefore, according to Myanmar law, the detention of Wu Piao Min Deng and others for more than 10 days was in violation of Myanmar law.
In the early morning of February 1st, local time, a number of senior officials of Yangon provincial government, including the current governor of Yangon, Wu Piaomin Deng, were taken away by the military and have not yet been released.
