February 9th local time, the Spanish official gazette issued a decree extending the control of the land border with Portugal until March 1.
Due to the extremely severe COVID-19 pandemic in the two countries, Spain and Portugal began to control the land border on January 29 local time.
Except for force majeure such as returning to their habitual residence, working, seeking medical treatment, etc., residents shall not pass through the land boundary between Spain and Portugal.
People with cross-border authorization can also pass only within the prescribed time and place, and the Spanish police will coordinate with the Portuguese authorities on the timetable for allowing crossing of the border and notify the public.
