February 9th – On theĀ 8th local time, Valensky, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said that a large number of COVID-19 response guidelines previously issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have been “politicized” by the Trump administration.
According to the Washington Post, Valensky said in an interview that his agency’s “a large part” of the pandemic prevention guidelines were “politicized” by Trump administration appointees.
She did not mention specific guidelines affected, but said that she had assigned CDC Deputy Director Schuchette to start the review and update the relevant content. We will introduce more scientific content.” Valensky said.
In the interview, Valensky also said: “American society is not functioning normally.
Our children are not given the education they deserve, business activities are blocked, people are forced to work from home… all because we still have a large number of confirmed cases.”
Many U.S. health officials have complained that important pandemic prevention guidelines such as wearing masks and reopening churches have been postponed or modified due to interference from Trump administration officials.
In December 2020, then-Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Redfield was criticized by senior House officials for allegedly concealing evidence that Trump administration officials interfered with the study of the pandemic.
In September of that year, the Trump administration was also exposed to interfere with the CDC’s weekly outbreak report, which officials described as “attempting to intimidate the authors of the report and hinder their communication with health experts.”
