According to Reuters, the Central African Republic government said on the 5th local time that it asked the National Assembly to pass a resolution extending the Central African national emergency for six months because it wanted to continue to fight against the country’s armed groups.
The Central African Republic government forces, supported by the United Nations peacekeeping force, Russian and Rwandan security forces, have reportedly been fighting against anti-government armed groups in the country, which attempt to reverse the results of the Central African presidential election of 27 December 2020, in which Central African President Tuwadra won re-election.
It is understood that anti-government armed groups in Central Africa frequently carried out attacks before and after the Central African general elections and attempted to invade Bangui, the capital of Central Africa.
On the evening of January 21, the Presidential Palace of the Central African Republic declared a 15-day state of emergency in Central Africa from midnight that day to quell the violence of armed groups.
