The Dubai Health Bureau of the United Arab Emirates issued a statement on the 30th saying that it will provide free Chinese vaccines for UAE citizens and Dubai residents at the medical center of the Emirates of Dubai from January 31.
The first phase will give priority to vaccination for the elderly aged 60 and above, and will then be extended to other groups.
Prior to this, medical institutions under the jurisdiction of Dubai Health Bureau only provided Pfizer vaccines produced in the United States and Germany.
It is reported that Dubai Health Bureau had earlier announced that it would reschedule the vaccination of Pfizer vaccine due to the global shortage of vaccines.
The full launch of the Chinese vaccine is to provide more choices for the local people among the vaccines currently approved for the market in the United Arab Emirates, and it is also crucial to the timely implementation of the UAE national vaccination plan.
Dubai Health Authority said that the medical center will first contact those who have made an appointment for vaccination in advance.
Previously, Chinese vaccines were mainly provided in the United Arab Emirates in government and private hospitals managed by the Ministry of Health and Prevention of the United Arab Emirates.
