January 29th, local time, in São Paulo, Brazil, with the largest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, a judge overturned the previous ban on the reopening of public and private schools in the state and allowed schools to resume face-to-face teaching.
The reopening time of the state’s public and private schools is scheduled for February 8 and February 1, respectively, and the reopening time of state schools in the capital city of St. Paul is scheduled for February 15.
At present, the pandemic situation in São Paulo has not eased.
Six regions of the state are in the most stringent red stage of pandemic prevention measures, and 11 regions are in the orange stage of stricter pandemic prevention measures.
In addition, from 20:00 to 6 a.m. the next day on weekends, holidays and weekdays, all regions of the state have entered the most stringent red stage of pandemic prevention.
Referring to the ruling allowing the resumption of classes, Judge Geraldo Franco said that it is up to the family to decide whether or not students return to school.
