29th January 2021, the judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Canada, rejected Meng Wanzhou’s application to change bail conditions. Meng Wanzhou’s lawyer group had previously asked the court to allow Meng to leave his home outside the curfew without personal security personnel.
The team of lawyers believes that security personnel make her more vulnerable to the novel coronavirus.
The CEO of Lionsgate Risk Management Group, which oversees Meng Wanzhou, admitted at the hearing that relaxing bail conditions would reduce the company’s revenue and did not support changing her bail conditions.
The judge also believed that Meng Wanzhou still faced safety hazards and the possibility of leaving the country despite her consistent compliance with bail conditions.
