January 29, local time, CNN reported that Biden has appointed Robert Marley, Obama-era adviser on the Middle East, as the new senior envoy for Iran.
Marley is president and CEO of the International Crisis Organization.
He served as a special assistant to the president under Obama and served as the White House Coordinator for Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf Region.
In addition, Marley is also a key figure in the U.S. negotiating team of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Action Plan.
U.S. State Department spokesman Price said that on Iran, U.S. Secretary of State Bricoln is building a dedicated team of clear-headed and diverse experts.
Robert Marley will lead the team as a special envoy for Iran, who has a successful record in negotiations to limit Iran’s nuclear program.
The Secretary of State believes that he and his team can do this again.
White House Press Secretary Pusaki also confirmed Marley’s appointment at a press conference on the 29th.
