January 26th – Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif said on the 26th that if the United States lifts the existing economic sanctions and diplomatic blockade against Iran, Iran is willing to resume full compliance with the Iran Nuclear Agreement (JCPOA), but will not wait for the United States indefinitely.
According to the Russian satellite news agency on the 26th, Zarif said at a press conference after meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov that Washington should “stop pressure to impose sanctions” and remove all obstacles to Iran’s cooperation with other countries.
Zarif said: “If these problems are solved, then we will return to the track of full compliance with the provisions of the Iran nuclear agreement. We will welcome observers of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
This is a promise made by the Supreme Leader. But Zarif also said that Iran would not wait indefinitely for the United States to rejoin the agreement.
In July 2015, Iran and the six countries on the Iranian nuclear issue reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue. In May 2018, the United States announced its withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement, and then gradually resumed sanctions against Iraq suspended by the agreement.
U.S. President Biden said during the election that if Iran abides with the terms of the agreement, he will consider the return of the United States to the Iran nuclear agreement.
