Bloomberg reported on January 25 that Liz Truss, the British Secretary of State for International Trade, said on Monday that most of the text work on the UK-US trade agreement had been completed.
Climate commitments will be a key area of the UK-US trade agreement. In addition, Britain hopes to ease the tariff contradiction with the United States.
British Prime Minister Johnson publicly said after his first call with new US President Biden on the evening of the 23rd local time, “I look forward to deepening the long-term alliance between our two countries.”
According to the BBC, Johnson praised Biden’s actions in combating climate change, and the two stressed the importance of joining NATO, while talking about the benefits of a free trade agreement between Britain and the United States.
The spokesman quoted Johnson as saying that he hoped to “solve the current trade difficulties [of both sides] as soon as possible”.
